president obama as we have been mentioning president carter and george w. bush and will have more reaction on news 4 at 6:00. meanwhile, we have big weather happening in our world close to home. >> veronica johnson has the latest from the storm center. >> i'm tracking it all. we have a couple things that we are going to have to warry about. the temperatures this time tomorrow, you are going to be uncomfortable. the mercury is going to drop. the other thing we are dealing with, folks, a lot of rain moving in. winter type weather for the weekend. that weather, i know, it's early. it includes snow that could accumulate and includes ice that could accumulate. we are looking at freezing rain and sleet around the area. temperatures right now, they are comfortable. mid-60s, most locations. with high that is topped out around 66 and 67 degrees in college park, rockville, maryland, gaithersburg, 65-66. it's more like late october type conditions. it's still going to be mild early tomorrow morning. likely to be able to get by. leave the house with a light jacket tomorrow. the warmest time of the day

. >> nice to be here. >> we've been hearing a little bit this weekend, further plans for president obama when it comes to the events in south africa this week, and former president george w. bush, former president clinton, former president carter. who will their role be as u.s. presidents at these events? >> i think just to be there, to pay tribute, to give the sense of moment it deserves, international recognition that it deserves. i think for all of them at different levels. president bush who i covered didnavdela but no doubt respected him. bill clinton, of course, very close. and president obama in a unique way, encouraged to go see him when he's still a senator. mandela encouraged to meet with this up-and-coming star in politics. and for our president to be so moved by mandela, to really have his own place in the civil rights struggle against apartheid i think makes it very meaningful. his presence will be significant. >> when it comes to president obama's presence on the international stage, we know he's talking about this potential for comprehensive agreement with iran yesterday.

michelle obama will be in south africa on tuesday to pay their final respects to nelson mandela. they plan to attend a memorial in johannesburg at a stadium. the president will travel with former president george w. bush and laura on air force one. bill clinton and jimmy carter also plan to attend. the mandela family released their first statement since he passed away saying they've lost a great man. a son of the soil. here in d.c., a growing tribute outside the south african embassy in northwest. a steady stream of people have been coming since the news broke. one local d.c. resident said she was inspired by the former south african president and felt compelled to visit his statue. >> he was willing to give his life to what he believed in. he moved me. i had to be here. >> a memorial for mandela is being planned at the washington national cathedral on wednesday. >>> news 4 will have complete coverage as the world pays tribute to nelson mandela our. our own jim vance will also be in south africa next week. >>> an 85-year-old california man is home tonight after spending seven weeks as a pr
